Gustav is a cutting-edge sprint orchestration framework designed to transform concepts into robust applications. By integrating strategic planning with quality assurance, Gustav minimizes complexities like over-engineering and maintains code quality throughout the development process, ensuring a smoother journey from idea to execution.
Gustav is an innovative sprint orchestration framework tailored for developers looking to transform ideas into enterprise-level applications. Inspired by the renowned orchestrator Gustav Mahler, this framework aims to reduce complexities such as over-engineering, feature creep, and code-related issues, allowing developers to concentrate on implementing features effectively.
Gustav begins its process with a Product Requirements Document (PRD) to guide the application development. Developers simply need to place the PRD within the project directory and execute the command:
/gustav:planner <PRD PATH>
Gustav will conduct thorough research, selecting the best technologies and frameworks tailored to the project’s goals while determining which 7 features will comprise the Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Any features not included in the MVP are stored in ./tasks/deferred.json for future consideration.
Once planning is complete, constructing the application is just as straightforward. Users run:
/gustav:executor
Gustav ensures that the application adheres to best practices, including Test Driven Development (TDD) and robust code quality checks, facilitating a high standard of development.
Unlike many prevalent frameworks that operate like a black box, Gustav emphasizes transparency. It limits the number of tasks executed per milestone to 3-4, allowing for more manageable development cycles. Progress is validated through:
/gustav:validator
The validator conducts comprehensive tests, checks code quality, validates API endpoints, and analyzes errors, ensuring a thorough assessment before proceeding.
Gustav integrates project management functionality with a burndown chart:
/gustav:velocity
This feature aids in tracking progress and facilitating effective project management practices.
Ensuring that applications meet security compliance standards is critical. Gustav includes a security scanner that users can run using:
/gustav:audit
This tool assesses applications against several well-known frameworks:
Gustav is currently in beta and constantly evolving, aiming to create a refined AI coding team within Claude Code, while continuously undergoing refinement and testing.
