A lightweight system monitor widget for iTerm2.
Project details
iTermSysMon provides a seamless way to monitor system activity directly from iTerm2. With features like CPU, memory, GPU usage, and network activity tracking, it offers a comprehensive overview without needing a separate installation. The customization options allow users to tailor their monitoring experience, making it an essential tool for power users and developers.
iTermSysMon is a lightweight macOS system monitor that operates as a web panel within iTerm2, offering users a comprehensive overview of system metrics.
Users can modify watched_folders.json to manage which folders to monitor, adjusting the scan interval to their preference—ranging from 1 minute to several days. The last scan details, including time and folder sizes, are saved, ensuring efficiency by avoiding unnecessary rescans upon restarting iTerm2. The monitor is designed to avoid nested duplicate scans, enhancing performance. A feature to highlight folders exceeding 5 GB assists in identifying large storage consumers.
Process-traffic sampling can be set between 1 to 60 seconds or minutes. The default interval is set to 10 seconds, allowing users to effectively track resource utilization.
File activity monitoring functions without the need for administrative access, although tracking process names for file activity may require an optional sudoers rule for using fs_usage.
This project streamlines the ability to monitor system performance directly within iTerm2, making it a valuable tool for developers and system administrators alike.
