Metis

Metis is an advanced coding agent designed to significantly enhance AI/LLM coding performance—reportedly by as much as 50%. This tool excels in searching, remembering, executing, and verifying commands seamlessly across terminal and desktop environments, catering to a wide array of coding needs.

Key Features

• Dual Workflows: Metis supports both Plan and Build workflows, allowing users to safely investigate in read-only mode before executing approved plans with an interactive checklist during the Build phase.
• Dynamic User Interfaces: Access Metis through either a robust terminal user interface (TUI) or a dedicated React/Vite desktop application for macOS and Windows.
• Recursive Multi-Agent System: Utilize native named agents that support L0 to L4 recursive delegation, enhancing project management and task execution.
• Durable Memory & Resumable Sessions: Maintain project knowledge and decisions persistently in SQLite, ensuring continuity even after restarts. Sessions can also be resumed or forked as needed.
• Model-Agnostic Extensibility: Metis is compatible with various large language model (LLM) providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and others. Users can extend the functionality with custom TypeScript plugins and skills.
• Benchmark-Grade Reliability: Metis offers automated verification gates and full readiness for Terminal-Bench and Harbor evaluations, ensuring high reliability and performance validation.

Benchmark Performance

In controlled testing conditions using the DeepSeek V4 Flash model and 89 real-world tasks, Metis achieved an impressive accuracy rate of 82.02%, outperforming competitors like OpenCode. This performance indicates a 14.6% improvement in task resolution, thanks to its sophisticated architecture, including recursive agents and durable memory.

Documentation

Extensive documentation is available to guide users through installation, usage commands, model integrations, and customization options. For developers, comprehensive build instructions, testing protocols, and contribution guidelines are provided.
