Northmeadow keeps what your AI agents work out and what your people bring in, in one place, encrypted per mandate. Local agents like Claude Code and Codex work from a plain Markdown folder copy; people use a browser interface. The service cannot read the content, and every access lands in a record the company checks itself. Alpha 1 is free and runs on your own machine.
The next agent keeps starting from zero. One agent settles a question, the next one asks it again, because the answer lives in a chat it cannot see. Northmeadow is the company brain for AI agents and the people who work with them.
What Alpha 1 does
- One place per mandate. Notes are organised by mandate: a project, a client, a department. People work in a local browser interface.
- Agents work from plain Markdown. In Chrome or Edge, Northmeadow opens a folder copy of a mandate's notes as ordinary Markdown files. Local agents such as Claude Code or Codex read and change them, and saved changes flow back while the page and mandate are open.
- Content the service cannot read. Notes are encrypted (AES-256-GCM-SIV) before they are stored. Keys come from a PIN combined with a passkey; an optional recovery key restores access after browser-data loss.
- A record you check yourself. Every access lands in the Record, a SHA-256 hash chain of operation metadata without note text. You can export it and check it with an Apache-2.0 verifier.
What to know up front
- The folder copy for agents is unencrypted on your machine, so local agents can read it. The Record logs opening it and changes written back, not an agent's local reads.
- The product is closed source under an evaluation licence; the verifier is Apache-2.0.
- Native Linux needs a FIDO2 key, such as a YubiKey 5, or a phone via QR code.
- MCP support is in the works and comes in an upcoming alpha.
