Nowlert CE is a free, open-source and self-hosted infrastructure notification platform designed to sit between the systems that generate operational events and the places where people actually want to receive them.

Infrastructure notifications are often fragmented across long emails, vendor-specific alerting systems, webhook scripts and different message formats. Nowlert provides a common layer that receives those signals, turns them into a consistent structure, routes them deterministically and delivers clear operational notifications.

Receive

Nowlert accepts infrastructure events through:

• SMTP
• HTTP
• Redfish Event Service

This allows existing infrastructure to send events without requiring every source system to understand the final notification destination.

Normalise

Vendor-specific payloads are converted into a consistent event model so that routing and presentation do not need to be rebuilt for every integration.

Route

Events are processed through deterministic routing rules, including source, event and priority-based filtering.

Routing remains predictable: operators define where events should go and under what conditions.

Deliver

Notifications can be delivered to destinations including:

• Discord
• Microsoft Teams
• Slack
• Generic webhooks
• MQTT
• ntfy

Built for real infrastructure

Nowlert started as a way to transform long Xen Orchestra backup emails into concise, readable notifications. It grew from that use case into a common notification layer for mixed infrastructure environments.

Examples of systems that can feed events into Nowlert include Xen Orchestra, Zabbix, Grafana, Portainer, Proxmox, UniFi, Dell iDRAC and HPE iLO through the supported SMTP, HTTP and Redfish inputs.

Instead of maintaining separate mailbox rules, webhook scripts and destination-specific formatting for every system, the notification pipeline is centralized in one place.
