Your records stay on your computer; it drafts the next step for you.
Project details
Proxenos is a free, open-source agent that keeps your mail, chats, calendar and health records in a private folder on your own computer. It tracks where things stand and drafts the next step in your voice: replies, forms, a call that waits on hold for you. It drafts; you press send. Built first for people getting through the health care system.
Proxenos is a free, open-source local-first AI agent designed to efficiently manage healthcare records while maintaining the privacy of sensitive data on a user’s computer. This innovative solution keeps track of referrals, bills, and communications, enabling users to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system more effectively.
In moments of health challenges, the surrounding processes can often be overwhelming—referrals may go unanswered, portals can be confusing, and billing discrepancies arise. Proxenos alleviates this burden by analyzing existing records from various sources (such as emails, chats, calendars, and notes) and maintaining an organized account of ongoing healthcare statuses. The application generates messages, call scripts, and one-page briefs for upcoming appointments in your personal voice, allowing for clear communication while keeping control in your hands.

Proxenos serves as a comprehensive digital assistant for managing healthcare-related tasks, offering the following functionalities:
Proxenos is built on a foundation of privacy-first principles. Code and personal data are distinctly separated, ensuring that all user information remains local. Communication with external servers occurs only when expressly permitted by the user, such as during phone calls managed through a secure Twilio account. The repository stores code exclusively, whereas personal records are kept in a private vault, which maintains its own change history.
Continuous contributions are welcome to enhance the functionality of this project, especially insights from individuals with medical training to foster an even more effective preventive tool.
While the application requires some technical proficiency (operates primarily on macOS and employs terminal commands), it is backed by comprehensive documentation to aid users throughout the installation and setup processes. Proxenos isn’t a finished commercial product yet but is actively used and improved by those familiar with coding.
To gather personal data:
proxenos ingest whatsapp # Import WhatsApp messages
proxenos import ~/Downloads/takeout-*.zip # Import Google Takeout data
To synchronize records:
proxenos sync # Refresh all imported data
To manage and maintain the self-model:
proxenos master # Update the self-model based on notes
Proxenos represents a significant step toward empowering users in their healthcare journey. Contributions are not limited to code; feedback, ideas, and discussions regarding its functionalities are crucial for its evolution. For anyone interested in improving this tool for broader community use, starring the repository helps with visibility.
Disclaimer: Proxenos is primarily an organizational tool that assists in drafting messages and managing personal health records; it is not intended as a source of medical advice. All health decisions should be made with professional healthcare providers.
