Let your coding agent call you for advice.
Project details
TalkToMe is an open-source app (MacOS rn, others coming soon) that lets coding agents call you without starting a new conversation. Your agent keeps the same session, model, tools, files, and context. It can call you to consult, discuss and more.
TalkToMe is an open-source macOS app for voice calls with AI agents.
The idea is simple: instead of opening a separate voice assistant and losing all the context your coding agent already has, you ask the agent you are already working with to call you.
Tell it:
Call me with TalkToMe.
Your Mac rings. You answer, start talking, and your speech is sent back into the same agent session.
The agent keeps its existing:
TalkToMe does not provide another LLM. It is the voice layer between you and the agent that is already doing the work.
Typing is great when I know exactly what I want changed.
Voice is much better when I am still thinking through the problem.
I might want to talk through an architecture, explain why an implementation feels wrong, or work through a half-formed idea without turning it into a carefully written prompt first.
TalkToMe makes that possible without moving the conversation into another app or starting from zero.
When the call ends, the agent session continues exactly where it was.
TalkToMe currently supports connection paths for:
Codex has the most direct integration, while other agents can use TalkToMe's cooperative connection flow.
You can run much of the speech stack locally.
For speech-to-text, TalkToMe supports Whisper.
For text-to-speech, you can use:
TalkToMe also uses a small local turn-detection model to decide when you have finished speaking, so the interaction feels less like push-to-talk and more like a conversation.
TalkToMe is a menu-bar app rather than another full-screen AI interface.
The coding agent is already where the work happens. TalkToMe just gives that agent another way to reach you.
The project is early, macOS-first, and open source.
