Pitch

Vivace is a fast and lively media player designed with Qt, featuring native playback without external processes or widgets. It supports a wide range of audio and video formats, offers advanced functionalities like subtitle management and media casting, and comes with multi-language support. Ideal for daily use.

Description

Vivace is a high-performance media player built entirely upon the robust Qt framework, featuring a seamless interface designed with QML and leveraging the power of FFmpeg for multimedia playback. Unlike other media players that rely on external processes, Vivace ensures a highly integrated experience without excessive overhead or complexity.

As a modern successor to SMPlayer, Vivace is engineered to support a wide array of media formats including MKV, MP4, and MPEG2. Users can expect features such as:

  • Playback Capabilities: Comprehensive playback support with functionality for seeking, audio/subtitle track switching, and speed control with pitch compensation.
  • User-Friendly Interface: A full SMPlayer-style menu layout that includes options for Open/Play, Video, Audio, Subtitles, Browse, View, Options, and Help.
  • Extensive Features: Create and manage playlists, bookmarks, and favorites, plus a video equalizer for customized viewing. Supports unencrypted DVD playback with interactive menu navigation and optional YouTube video playback and downloads via yt-dlp.
  • Secure Storage: Ensures that credentials are stored securely using the operating system's keychain.
  • Multi-Platform Support: Available installers for Windows, Linux, and macOS, allowing immediate media file integration after installation. The Windows installer also adds Vivace as a file-type option in Windows' Default Apps.
  • Multilingual UI: The interface is translated into 24 languages, catering to a global audience.

System Requirements

To ensure optimal performance, Vivace requires:

  • Qt 6.11 or later with Quick and Multimedia modules.
  • CMake 3.24 and a compatible C++17 compiler (developed using MSVC 2022 on Windows).

AV1 Video Support

Vivace includes AV1 video playback support in its Windows prebuilt releases with a patched Qt Multimedia FFmpeg plugin. However, this feature is currently limited on Linux and macOS, where it may not function as desired without specific custom builds.

Audio Speed/Pitch Compensation

Vivace enhances the playback experience by enabling pitch compensation during speed adjustments, utilizing advanced algorithms to reduce distortion, improving sound quality significantly while maintaining audio fidelity.

Easy Installation and Usage

Users can easily run Vivace with commands like vivace [file-or-url], or by simply dragging and dropping media files onto the application window. Full details and options for building, packaging, and installation from source are available in the project's repository.
